Mark is Chief Executive Officer of the National Australia Day Council.
He has extensive senior leadership experience in the public sector including serving as Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Head of Commonwealth Protocol in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, various First Assistant Secretary roles in the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and a diplomatic career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade including postings as Consul-General in The Hague, and as Vice-Consul in Turkey.
Mark was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2019 for distinguished service to the Crown and to international relations. He was also appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2019.
Mark is also founder and CEO of charity Make A Mark Australia, empowering children in need through improved access to education.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations, public relations and journalism from Bond University, a Masters Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University and a Global Executive MBA from the University of Sydney. He has also attended the Harvard University Senior Leaders in Government program.
